Pulmonary arterial hypertension therapy: doubts and certainties

Abstract

L'ipertensione arteriosa polmonare è una malattia rara, caratterizzata da incremento delle pressioni nel circolo arterioso polmonare. In passato tale patologia era considerata incurabile, ma grazie alla scoperta di nuove molecole farmacologiche, e soprattutto grazie a un approccio terapeutico basato su alcuni punti chiave (terapia precoce, che agisce su più vie, guidata dal raggiungimento dei target terapeutici) la morbilità e la mortalità si sono ridotte. Le ultime linee guida hanno introdotto alcune importanti novità.

Abstract

Pulmonary arterial hypertension is a rare disease characterized by increased pulmonary arterial pressures. In the past this pathology was considered incurable, but thanks to discovery of new drugs, and above all thanks to a therapeutic approach based on some key points (early therapy, which acts on several pathways, goal oriented) morbidity and mortality decreased. Latest Guidelines bring several innovation.
